On behalf of the SABRE Group, HCII worked onsite with Qantas Airways (QA) ( www.qantas.com ) to define the functional requirements for their electronic commerce project. HCII worked with QAs marketing and technology people to design and define a electronic commerce system that could respond to the needs of their customers and their marketing department. QA wanted to sell airline tickets, cargo, and other products and services on the internet in real-time (transaction processing links to all backend system within Qantas). HCII designed all connections to Qantas backend systems. HCIIs design enabled Qantas to use multiple selling channels, e.g., WWW, kiosk, Interactive Voice Response, etc. The design enables the IT department to make changes to their backend systems without effecting the electronic commerce solution.
